Campaigns of Global Civil Society Movements
During the last decade we have witnessed the creation and the growth of transnational networks whose main objective is to foster international democracy. Many scholars in different fields are increasingly interested in this process, studying the evolution of these movements, from the stage of protest to that of purpose and that of project. The latter represents the most difficult step, because it is the most political one, usually taking many years.
The IDW will devote part of its work to the movements for international democracy and, in particular, to the campaigns of transnational civil society for the strengthening and the democratization of international institutions. The International Democracy Report will include a specific section dedicated to these campaigns and to promoting networks, illustrating their objectives and the outcomes achieved by global and local mobilizations.
