The final countdown towards the launch of the first transnational European Citizen Initiative (ECI) has started.

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) is organizing an International Training Programme on “Peace and Security in Africa” in order to foster the capacity of conflict management, peacemaking and peacebuilding of regional organisations in Sub-Saharan Africa.

On 10 November 2011, in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), will be held a Roundtable for ASEAN Business Leaders organized by the Global Business Initiative on Human Rights in co-operation with local partners and the UN Global Compact. The theme will be “Implementing Corporate Respect for Human Rights”.

From 20 to 22 June 2011 in Bonn (Germany) will be held the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum. The 2011 theme is Human rights and globalization - challenges to the media.

On 19-21 May 2011 in Antwerp (Belgium) the University of Antwerp in cooperation with the European Science Foundation and the European University Institute organizes a Stock-Taking Conference on Beyond Territoriality: Globalisation and Transnational Human Rights Obligations.

On 12-13 May 2011 in Leuven (Belgium), will be held an international workshop on Federalism in the EU, organized jointly by the University of Leuven Law School, the Centre for Law and Cosmopolitan Values (University of Antwerp) and the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies.

On 27-29 April 2011 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) will be held the World Economic Forum on Latin America. The 2011 theme is Laying the Foundation for a Latin American Decade.

On 4-6 May 2011, in Cape Town (South Africa), will be held the World Economic Forum on Africa, whose's theme will be From Vision to Action, Africa’s Next Chapter.

On 26-27 April 2011 in Izmir (Turkey) the Turkish chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has organised a high-level Conference on the Future of the European Court of Human Rights.
